Synchrodogs is a Ukrainian photographic artist duo formed in 2008 by Tania Shcheglova and Roman Noven, who met on a photography platform and began working together under a shared artistic identity. The name reflects their interest in nature, synchronization, and the unification of two individuals into a single creative practice.
Their work explores the tension between the human body and the natural environment, balancing raw, animalistic imagery with carefully constructed, dream-like compositions. Working through an intimate and collaborative process, the duo shares authorship of all images; both artists photograph, perform, and make conceptual decisions collectively. Much of their photographic work features staged portraits, often using their own bodies, set within remote and desolate landscapes.
Synchrodogs frequently travel to isolated locations worldwide, producing images that exist between reality and imagination and draw on states between wakefulness and sleep. Their practice is informed by a self-developed meditation technique focused on hypnagogic states, which serves as a conceptual source for many projects.
The duo has exhibited internationally in solo and group exhibitions, including New Works at Stieglitz19 (2017), Rencontres d’Arles (2019), and group exhibitions such as UPRISE 2025: The Art of Resistance at The Untitled Space (2025). Their work has also been shown at AF Projects / Louise Alexander Gallery and Zenko Gallery, among others.
Alongside their artistic practice, Synchrodogs collaborate with international fashion brands including Burberry, Kenzo, Marni, Swarovski, Shiseido, and Lady Gaga, and have contributed to publications such as Vogue, New York Magazine, Purple, The Wall Street Journal, and Esquire.
In 2020, Louis Vuitton published Ukraine – Synchrodogs as part of its Fashion Eye series, featuring photographs from the project Slightly Altered, documenting extended travel through the Ukrainian Carpathians and addressing ecological responsibility.
Synchrodogs are recipients of multiple awards, including the Harper’s Bazaar Ukraine Photography Prize (2011), Art Rebels x Canon (Denmark), and FOAM Construct (Netherlands, both 2012). Their work is situated within contemporary photography and conceptual art contexts addressing nature, identity, the body, and the subconscious.
