An expert at Christie’s auction house Maria Puffiti called the artist Yuri Gorbachev “Ambassador of Russia and Ukraine in the world of fine art.”
Yuri Gorbachev created his own unique technique of painting on canvas using gold, bronze, special varnishes and enamels, completely eliminating the black color from the palette.
His works are in more than 20 prestigious museum collections, including the Louvre Museum, the Russian Museum (St. Petersburg), the Kremlin, the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, the UN Museum (New York), the National Museum of Ukraine (Kiev), the National Gallery of Armenia, the Martiros Museum Saryana (Yerevan), Rudana Museum (Bali), National Museum Seni Rupa (Indonesia), US Capitol (Washington), Jane Voorhees Zimmerli Art Museum (USA), MORA Museum (USA), as well as in private collections of many famous people of the planet, including former US President Bill Clinton, Marcello Mastroiani, Mick Jagger, Anto Nio Banderas, Brooke Shields and many others. The White House collection also contains a picture of the artist, because Yuri Gorbachev was twice invited to the White House for the inauguration ceremony, among the most important people for US culture, and was personally introduced to US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Yuri Gorbachev was born in Uglovka near Veliky Novgorod, graduated from an industrial college (Borovichi), studied at the Faculty of Philosophy at Leningrad University, lived in Odessa for more than 20 years, where he graduated from the Faculty of Art and Graphics at the Pedagogical Institute, his teacher was Valery Arutyunovich Gegoyan, a student of the well-known Martiros Saryana. At the age of 27, Gorbachev became a member of the most prestigious Union of Artists of the USSR. His work is above all national aspirations and belongs to the whole world.
Gorbachev’s artistic activity was established in New York; more than two hundred personal exhibitions were held throughout the United States, Europe, South America, Asia, Russia and Ukraine.
The exhibition presents the main topics of the artist: evolution, mythology, landscapes, still lifes and others. Many paintings were exhibited in famous museums around the world. Some works will be shown for the first time.
