Sculptor, teacher and art expert who explores contemporary art issues. People’s Artist of Ukraine. Professor of the Lviv National Academy of Arts. Candidate of Art Studies. Vladimir Odrekhovsky was born in Lviv. In 1977 he graduated from the Lviv State Institute of Arts and Crafts (now the Academy of Arts). Teachers – Emmanuel Misko, Dmitry Krvavich, Ivan Frank. From 1978 he began to teach drawing and sculpture at the Lviv State Institute of Arts and Crafts. In 1980–1983 he studied and completed his postgraduate studies at the Leningrad Higher Art and Industrial School. V. Mukhina (since 1994 – St. Petersburg State Art Academy named after AL Stiglitz). In 1985 he defended his Ph.D. thesis at the St. Petersburg State Academic Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. I. Repin. In 1992, he trained at the Beaux-arts de Paris (L’école nationale supėrieure). Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine since 1984. In 2016. elected rector of Lviv National Academy of Arts.
