“After my grandmother’s death, there was a lot of crystal glass left. She collected and carefully stored it, as many ‘post-Soviet’ citizens did. In our family, we were prohibited from utilizing crystal glass. Grandma was saving it for a special occasion. That occasion, however, never happened. My grandmother passed away a long time ago, but her dream is still alive. The Soviet ideology of building a better life, the rapid-moving forward, pretentious greatness were reflected in the lives of ordinary people. And their fragile dream left a shadow – the sensation of variability and instability of all that exists.”
Mykhailo Alekseenko was born in 1989 in Kyiv.
