“For me, sculpture is the meaning of life and my second breath.
Many factors have influenced the choice of the future profession. But somehow it just so happened that I became a sculptor.
I admire the work of the Etruscans, ancient Greeks, Italian sculptors of the Neoclassic period and the Renaissance. Very fond of archaic sculpture.
I work mainly with wood, bronze and stone. And the leading theme of my work is the person and everything connected with it.
First of all, I pay attention to the poetic and professionalism of the performance of the work. These are the main criteria by which I evaluate sculpture. ”

Education

1990-1992 studied at Kharkiv State Art College.
From 1992 to 1997 studied at Kharkiv Art and Industrial Institute (now – Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts).

Creative path

Since 1997 teaches drawing and sculpture at Kharkiv State University of Civil Engineering and Architecture.
Associate Professor of the Department of Arts and Crafts.

Since 2000 he is a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine.

Vladimir Kochmar has been an active participant in regional, national and international projects for several decades. The artist was awarded Municipal Honor of Kharkiv (2008), Grand Prix of the All-Ukrainian Triennial of Sculpture (2008). He regularly visits sculpture symposia in Poland, France, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Turkey, Canada.

The sculptor’s objects are located in Kharkiv, Donetsk, Poltava, Kherson, Penza, Izmir, Marmaris, Quebec.
Vladimir Kochmar works with portraiture, circular sculpture and reliefs. The vast majority of his work is in bronze. Not simple but simplistic, natural – Kochmar’s objects are the result of author’s internal discussion with the masters of the plastic of the past. The clear images to which the sculptor resorts give birth to a particular style of the master, characterized by laconicism and non-standard forms.
