The M17 CAC hosted a press conference devoted to identifying the M17 Sculpture Prize nominees

On February 17, the M17 Contemporary Art Center hosted a press conference devoted to identifying the 12 nominees for the M17 Sculpture Prize, supported by the Adamovskiy Foundation

Andriy Adamovskiy, who was present at the event, said: “I will be very happy if, due to our support, young and talented sculptors will find their way. My goal is to make them famous and in-demand”. The philanthropist also mentioned the idea, prompted by a conversation with “Sculpture in the City” Director Stella Ioannou: to start a similar project. “Sculpture in the City” is the annual public art programme set amongst iconic architectural landmarks. “Perhaps when the work of 12 nominees will be executed, we will begin to materialize this dream of ours”, said Mr Adamovskiy.

Now that the shortlist is formed, the nominees must begin the production of the objects selected by the jury. The implementation of all except one of the works (artist Anna Taradina submitted an already completed work to the competition) is funded by the Adamovskiy Foundation. In June 2020, an exhibition of nominees’ works will take place at M17 where the main winner will be determined.  We remind that the winner will receive a prize in the amount of 250 000 UAH.

Participants of the press conference:
Andriy Adamovskiy – collector, philanthropist, founder of Adamovskiy Foundation
Natalia Shpytkovska – Director of M17 Contemporary Art Center
Kateryna Ray – Curator of M17 Sculpture Project
And M17 Sculpture Prize nominees: Anna Taradina, Taras Popovych, Andrii Kyrychenko, Vasylyna Buryanyk, Vasyl Grublyak, Vladyslav Goldakovskyi, Daniil Shumikhin.
