International Forum “The New Generation: The Artist and His Generation”

For 4 days Kiev will become the center of the world avant-garde.
International Forum “The New Generation: The Artist and His Generation”

The forum includes activities designed for professional audiences (reports, panel discussions, roundtables) and events for the forum audience (introductory lectures, demonstrations, tours). Additional events will include the premiere of the movie “Malevich” (FRESH production, Ukraine, 2017), the presentation of the collection of materials “Kasimir Malevich: Kiev aspect”, as well as concerts, performances and thematic tours.

On February 23rd, we will celebrate the 140th anniversary of Kasimir Malevich. Kazimir Malevich – one of the leaders of the world avant-garde, who remains among the most influential artists in the history of art, was born exactly 140 years ago in Kiev. But we are just beginning to discover an unknown layer related to the avant-garde art of the early twentieth century in Ukraine and Malevich’s connection with Ukrainian culture. How does the environment influence the formation of the artist? How different was the new generation that created the phenomenon of “our 20’s”? What contribution did Ukrainian artists make to the world avant-garde? Researchers, curators, collectors and art lovers from all over the world will gather to find answers to these and other questions on the birthday of the most famous Kievite in the world.
