Arsen Savadov is a Ukrainian artist. He was born on September 24, 1962 in Kyiv in the family of graphic artist Volodymyr Savadov, an Armenian from Baku.

In 1986 he graduated from the Kyiv State Art Institute. Member of the Kyiv art group “Paris Commune”. Works in the field of conceptualism. He represented Ukraine at the 49th Venice Biennale.

Critics consider Arsen Savadov to be one of the key figures in Ukrainian contemporary art, a generation that established itself in the late 1980s, the Ukrainian transavant-garde, the neo-baroque, the so-called “South Russian wave.” The famous work “Sadness of Cleopatra”, created by Arsen Savadov together with Georgy Senchenko in 1987, is considered a starting point for a new period in Ukrainian art. In the 1990s, Arsen Savadov worked with photography and video in co-authorship with Georgy Senchenko, then with Alexander Kharchenko, but in the end, he preferred an individual creative career.

Provocative projects “Donbass-Chocolate” and “Book of the Dead” brought Savadov the greatest popularity.

In recent years, Arsen Savadov has returned to painting.
