Ledakov Anton Zakharovich
(approximately 1840 – ?)

Ledakov Anton Zakharovich was born in peasant’s family. From 1859 till 1864 he studied at the Imperial Academy of Arts. During studying has been awarded with a large gold and silver medals, in 1867 he was awarded with the title of class artist of the 3rd degree. In the academy painter was a friend of I. H. Kramskoy. The artist has participated in the painting of the Russian church in Jaffo; in addition, he was the author of many icons of this church.

In many portraits by the artist were immortalized unique features of his contemporaries, was deeply transferred the inner world and the subtle human emotions. Refinement, nobility of the artist’s palette, barely perceptible transitions from one semitone to another, smoothly smears put the author in the row of thin colorists. Many women’s portraits of A. Ledakov primary are the eternal search for the ideal type of human being, it is amazingly beautiful person. But looking more carefully, we can see that this beauty is quite different: lofty or mocking, unthinking or thoughtful, in secular cold and human kind.
